Healthy Woman Pink Out successful

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Longview Regional Medical Center’s Healthy Woman program recently hosted its second annual Pink Out event at Dillard’s Lingerie Department in the Longview Mall.

The free event was open to the community of all ages.

“The Healthy Woman Program provides this free event to the community to heighten breast cancer awareness and educate not only women but also men on this important matter,” said Elizabeth Baumgardner, Marketing and Healthy Woman Coordinator for Longview Regional Medical Center.

“Part of being a healthy woman is the commitment to take care of yourself and also educate other women on health related issues. The Pink Out event was not only but also a very valuable time to gain a knowledge on every aspect of Breast Health,” said Beverly Rutland, Healthy Woman Advisory Council Member.

The event had three different physician panel discussions on breast health with a Diagnostic Clinic of Longview OB/GYN, a radiologist, general surgeons, an oncologist and genetic counselor. Among other topics, the experts talked about various risk factors for breast cancer, the range of available treatment options, genetic research and general women health issues.

The Center for Breast Care of Longview Regional Medical Center was also on site to schedule mammograms. In addition, free bra fittings was given by Dillard’s certified fitters, complimentary makeovers was provided by Clinique and Estee Lauder. There were door prizes and refreshments galore.
